Our History is Your Kitsch is our covers album, free for the downloading.

The Harvey Girls: The Wild Farewell is available on SVC Records .
Go download it and be happy. We also have a CDR package if you'd prefer.

Here, you can download our first EP,
blabber n smoke, or whatever else you find absolutely frickin' free. Of course, if you feel guilty about that and you like what you hear on this site, you can calculate your pleasure/drudgery ratio to determine how much of your hard earned scratch to donate via the PayPal links on the album page or by purchasing the CDs or screen printed t-shirts on the merchandise available page. This is our little experiment in musical obscurity meeting optimistic capitalism [conspicuously, of course].) There's also the Terciopelo Handmade page for music from other bands that may or may not have included members of the harvey girls.

You should also check out our Imaginary Albums debut, The Harvey Girls: The Harvey Girls and tell Craig hello (it's a greatest hits comp of a band you've never heard before). Actually, while you're there, just download everything.

Oh, and by the way, the pictures below contain unexpected delights.

news ya'll

Dave Heaton wrote a nice review of The Wild Farewell as well as interviewed us for his 100 Musicians Answer the Same 10 Questions series over at Erasing Clouds. Thanks, Dave!

We're in Portland now. Our favorite things so far: The ocean. Roses. Getting to see Vashti Bunyan on her first US date ever. Catching up with old friends. Meeting Victor Scott in Vancouver, BC. Sushi. Nice people. Our new house. We love it here.

And the website will be undergoing a redesign within the week, so please be kind about delayed downloads.

Wow, another year done gone. We've got a brand new (well, two actually) song over at muted tones, so go download your 12 minutes of hot Harvey action. The song will be on our new album as soon as we finish it. As much as Hiram kept saying "I'm not recording for awhile," we have enough for a new album already. Eh, go figure. We're gonna do a site redesign soon and you'll like it, we hope.

The Pitch wrote a nice story about us that just came out this week.  Thanks to writer Nicholas Seider and editor Jason Harper for treating us so well. We're glad that the article mentions Octarium , who did some beautiful work on the record.

One thing we mentioned that wasn't included was some thanks for the mp3 blogs who've been so essential in helping us get heard: Spoilt Victorian Child , of course, but dear Largehearted Boy, 3Hive , Fluxblog, Fat Planet, and Said the Gramophone -- at the risk of sounding sappy we are truly grateful.

Oh and DJ Sku, we love you.  Yes, that's full on sap, but that's what's to be expected from Ward and June, right?  (Vacuuming in pearls...isn't that just faintly erotic?  No?  Damn.  Why is it always just us?)

From the Book of Unknown Connections file:
Our new friend Marisha (who has an excellent band called The Consultants and you should buy their album or at least go see them when they play in NYC) posted about us on the indiepop list where Mike heard us and was interested in our song For Sheila Behman. Turns out Mike had interviewed Hans Fenger, the music teacher who recorded the Langley Schools Music Project, which contains a song sung by the person that FSB is named for--Sheila Behman--and told him about our song. Mr. Fenger wrote us today to say he thinks our song is beautiful and that Sheila was flattered so we've been flying ever since. We just want to say thanks to Sheila Behman, Mr. Fenger, Craig Boyko for forwarding the e-mail to us, and especially our new friends Marisha and Mike. We could probably quit playing music now we're so happy.

shows ya'll

We won't have any shows for a little while until we regroup with some new people in Portland, but we're working on it.
